GORE-TEX is the ideal solution for all kinds of winter sports and Spyder outerwear garments engineered with original GORE-TEX fabric are durably waterproof and windproof with optimized breathability, providing maximum protection and comfort for the wearer. Basically, you stay warmer when it’s cold and drier when you perspire, and GORE-TEX is so confident in their technology that they boast GORE-TEX garments are "Guaranteed to Keep You Dry".

At the heart of the GORE-TEX fabric is an extremely thin membrane that's durably waterproof, windproof, and breathable. It has over 9 billion pores per square inch. The microscopic pores on the membrane are 20,000 times smaller than a water droplet, which means water droplets can’t pass through. The pores are 700 times larger than a water vapor molecule which means perspiration passes right through. This is what makes the membrane breathable. The volume of air that passes through one square meter of fabric in one second (l/m²sec) is 5.0 or less, creating a truly windproof membrane.

Working with GORE-TEX, together we've developed an outer material laminate constructed of 360º stretch nylon and treated with PFCec Free DWR, that is bonded to the GORE-TEX membrane. Bonded to the other side of the membrane is our full stretch engineered interior lining. The result is no movement between the layers while allowing for full range of motion, which means less wear and tear, and enhanced durability.

GORE-TEX INFINIUM™

For situations when waterproofing isn't a concern, GORE-TEX has introduced GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ designed for drier conditions, when you don’t need guaranteed waterproof protection. Perfect for 'blue sky' conditions, INFINIUM offers comfort and protection against wind, cold, and other weather conditions. To be considered truly windproof, a fabric's air permeability must be 1.0 cfm or less which INFINIUM easily meets.

INFINIUM's membrane technology has billions of pores that are 900 times larger than water vapor molecules, so even though wind can’t get in, moisture from sweat vapor easily gets out. INFINIUM also employs DWR free of PFCs of Environmental Concern.
